Our Tudor Cottages in an Australian Bush

Our two self-contained Tudor cottages were built 38 years ago by a German craftsman, and feature many unique touches such as handmade headlight windows, wrought iron light fittings, German tiles, and original wallpapers. Each cottage has two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom downstairs including shower, toilet and basin. Cooking is simple in the the Austrian style kitchen or head outside for an Aussie barbecue. The sunny Garden Cottage looks over the gum trees and bush wildlife while the Beach Cottage faces the lake and gets the morning sunrise on the water. Individuals, couples and groups up to 9 guests can be accommodated.

Enjoy our Garden and Bushwalkers Paradise

Our 3 acre garden is our laboratory, where we are always experimenting with the adaptation of plants to water scarcity, to soil quality, the strong influence of the lakes and their salty environment and its winds. We win some, we lose some. It is also a garden that has emerged from self seeding, usually from a bird’s bum or carried in by the wind.

The Octagonal enclosed organic permaculture garden is our energy healing garden with vines and trees full of grapes, olives, figs, plums, pears, apples, apricots, pomegranates, and a plethora of berries. We have expanded our family with heritage chickens including Buff Sussex, Wyandottes and Barnevelders. Sharing our garden bounty is our pure joy.

Nestled in the gum trees near the full size Aussie BBQ sits the hexagonal Gazebo ideal for meditation, reading, or enjoying the view of the lake.

The Bountiful Breakfast Basket

When you stay in our accommodations, you will receive a seasonal breakfast basket including our heritage hen eggs, locally smoked bacon, Raymond Island honey, our home-made jams and granola, local sourdough bread, local milk, butter and yogurt, and seasonal greens, herbs, mushrooms and fruits from the garden (in season).

We also provide herbal Lemon Verbena, Nettle, and Ginger Teas in the cottage kitchens. Enjoy these fresh herbal teas from our garden!

Upon request, we can provide other meals which must be booked and paid for in advance. You can also barbeque your own meals by the lake, or cook in your own Austrian style kitchen.

Slow down and feel the healing essence of nature, the gift of the wild, the rejuvenating quality of the salt lake, the brain-shifting power of being present in accessible beauty.

Water Activities and Bushwalking in Our Backyard!

Explore 10 acres of natural bush flowing to the beach and lake.  Our property is secluded off a beautiful long winding driveway, so you will find a lot of wild animals, birds, fish as well as an array of plantlife.

Nearby is a public jetty berth where you can moor your boat/yacht. Kayaks and bikes are provided free.

Pets and Our Wildlife

Our everyday life includes a symbiotic relationship with jurassic trees, wild kangaroos, koala bears, parrots, kookaburra, echidnas, dolphins, black swans and sea horses.

We are very sorry, pets are not permitted to our sanctuary due to the sensitive nature of our wildlife.

Guest Privacy

Tony, Kirsten and her daughter Mia live in the main house at Swan Cove, so we are here if you need any assistance or would like to explore the enclosed octagon garden, or if you need advice on bushwalking, kayaking, etc. Otherwise we will leave you to your privacy!

If you need the laundry please ask as it is a shared facility. There is a clothes airer under the stairs.

Travelling to and from Raymond Island

There are no cafes/shops on the Raymond Island so you may want to visit Paynesville during your stay.

The chain ferry runs every 20 minutes between Raymond Island and Paynesville, and more often at peak times. The ferry stops at midnight Fri/Sat night and 11 pm weeknights. Cost is $13 return for cars and free for passengers and cyclists.

Nutritional Services and Yoga Consultations

Guests are invited to purchase a private nutritional and/or yoga consultation with Kirsten to enhance the healing aspect of your stay.  Learn more about Kirsten’s Nutritional Services Here
